YEC member Ilya Pozin's company Pluto.TV, of which he is the co-founder, recently raised $13 million in a Series A.
Investors include U.S. Venture Partners, United Talent Agency, Sky, Chicago Ventures, Great Oaks Venture Capital, Luminari Capital, Terry Semel’s Windsor Media, Universal Music Group and Pritzker Group.
Pluto.TV is a free media streaming service, powered by technology, data and human curation, with more than 100 aggregated channels -- sports, music, comedy, drama, news, documentaries, etc. -- and handpicked content from around the web. The platform, which can be accessed by multiple devices, also includes exclusive channels, like viral videos of “fails,” cartoons, cats, “best ofs" and more.
According to its corporate website, “Our ever-expanding universe of content includes staples from news to fashion, partnerships with some of the best content creators on this planet and real-time agile channels capturing the social chatter.”
To exemplify the latter, earlier this year, Pluto.TV streamed fashion shows from New York City's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. And for Beyoncé's birthday week, there was a 24/7 channel dedicated to her, filled with movie clips, live performances and music videos. These are just two examples of how Pluto is bringing timely pop culture into one place, and we're excited to see where it lands.
