YEC @ SXSW 2015 Event Recap

[sliderpro id="9"]

Last weekend, YEC members, FounderSociety members and invited guests in town for SXSW gathered at the famous Maggie Mae’s rooftop venue on Sixth Street in the heart of downtown Austin. Approximately 200 YEC members were in Austin for SXSW, so we threw a giant party to celebrate them and their companies.

YEC members in attendance included Shama Hyder, CEO of Marketing Zen Group; Andrew Thomas, co-founder of SkyBellPhil Laboon, President of Eyeflow Internet Marketing; Erica Dhawan, CEO of CotentialJeremy Brandt, CEO of We Buy HousesAlex Frias, President of Talent Social; Elisa Miller-Out, CEO of SinglebrookLauren Perkins, CEO of Perks ConsultingBlake Miller, Partner & Director of Accelerator at Think Big Partners; among many others.

Also joining the party were a selection of brand new FounderSociety members, along with friends of YEC including  Kyle Crotty of TechweekRyan O’Connell of YEC partner Influence & Co; and Reid Tomassi of Summit.

The event featured great connections; themed cocktails such as Series A (Absolut, St. Germaine, lime, grapefruit, club soda), Disruption (Kraken dark rum, light rum, lime) and Burn Rate (Chivas, Cherry Heering, Luxardo, orange); a great list of wine and beer; a mac and cheese bar along with various sliders; YEC pillows strewn about on couches; and a unique step and repeat photo opportunity space. With much self-aware laughter, an additional drink called "Crushing It" (Reyko, lime, ginger beer) had to be ordered using air quotes. YEC members also went home with custom screen printed T-shirts from Fine Southern Gentlemen.

"The YEC party was the best event I went to at SXSW. They brought together a fantastic group of people. Everyone I met was impressive, thoughtful and having a great time," said YEC member Patrick Ambron, co-founder & CEO at BrandYourself.

"YEC’s events are never to be missed. Their event this past week during SXSW was no exception. I was able to meet and reconnect with amazing people from across the country all there to celebrate entrepreneurship and innovation," said Kyle Crotty, Executive Director of Techweek New York.

The incredible evening was produced by Michele Fannin of Modish Productions, with music provided by Maggie Mae's own DJ Kenn. Pretty Instant provided the beautiful photography.
